Safety information for Students, Faculty and Staff
Cleaning and Disinfecting
Caretaking has increased cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces in common areas and public spaces such as entrances, hallways, elevators, lobbies, stairs, classrooms and washrooms.
There will be hand sanitizer available at high-touch points in common areas such as elevator lobbies, outside stairwells, and building entrances.
It is recommended that people using study carrels and furniture in public spaces disinfect them before and after use.
It is up to students, faculty and staff to clean individual work spaces such as desks, lab benches, desktops, cabinets and lab or research equipment, as caretaking will not be cleaning these. Faculty and staff can obtain disinfectant wipes for cleaning work areas by emailing Staff Wellness. Learn more.
Classrooms will be cleaned and disinfected at night and will not be cleaned during the day between classes. Wipes and hand sanitizer will be available for Individuals to use to clean individual spaces they are using throughout the day. Courses will be scheduled so rooms are not being used in back-to-back time slots.
Studio and theatre spaces used for performance labs like dance and some drama classes will be disinfected between uses, and there will be a minimum of 30 minutes scheduled between courses in these spaces.
Campus face coverings protocol
For the safety of our campus community, UCalgary students, faculty, post-doctoral fellows, staff, and visitors to campus are required to wear face coverings in indoor public spaces at all UCalgary facilities in the province as of Aug. 1. This decision was made to align with the City of Calgary COVID-19 Face Coverings Bylaw.
