Right to Refuse Dangerous Work

The general right of the employer to direct work is balanced by an employee’s right to refuse to work or do particular work at a work site if they have reasonable grounds to believe that there is an undue hazard at the work site, or that particular work poses an undue hazard to themselves and/or others. The Work Refusal Procedure and Worksite Inspection Form (PDF) detail the steps employees and supervisors/managers must follow in order to address and document a work refusal.
